Frequently asked
Where is my swim data stored?
Your logged swims and custom workouts sync through your own private iCloud account. They're never uploaded to any server OpenLane's developer can access.
How do I log a swim from my Apple Watch?
Open OpenLane on your Watch, choose a workout (or Just swim), and start — laps, heart rate, and stroke count track automatically, and the swim goes to your phone by itself the moment you finish. There's nothing to tap.
What if my phone isn't nearby when I finish a swim?
Your watch keeps the swim and keeps sending it until your phone confirms it has it, so no swim is lost. "Recent swims" at the bottom of the watch home screen shows each swim as "Waiting for iPhone" or "On iPhone". Your phone saves each swim only once, however many times it arrives.
How do pool conditions (lightning, weather, haze) work?
Today's "Pool conditions" card puts the most important thing first: lightning near your pool (outdoor pools usually close, and typically reopen about 30 minutes after the last strike), thunderstorms likely, poor air, high heat stress or very high UV. Below it are the next 2 hours, UV, heat and air, with the official advice for exercising outdoors. Your watch shows the top line before you start. In Singapore everything comes from the National Environment Agency: the 2-hour forecast for your pool's town, lightning within about 8 km, heat stress (WBGT), UV, PSI and PM2.5 — choose your town in Me → Pool area, or leave it on Automatic. Outside Singapore, choose My location for a forecast and air-quality estimate from Open-Meteo.com, based on your approximate location; there's no live lightning data there. Don't want it? Turn off Me → Pool conditions, or keep just Weather or Air quality. It's information to help you decide, not medical advice — always check with your pool.
Can I change my weekly streak goal?
Yes — in Me → Swim days per week, from 1 to 7 days (3 to start). A change counts from the current week; earlier weeks keep the goal they had.
How do I delete my account and data?
In the app, go to Me → Delete Account. You can also email edmundliewyonghock@gmail.com and your account will be removed within 30 days. Health and workout data in your private iCloud account can be deleted anytime from the Health app or iCloud settings, independent of your OpenLane account.
Does OpenLane work without an Apple Watch?
Yes — you can log swims manually from your iPhone. The Watch app adds automatic lap, heart rate, and stroke tracking during the swim.
